Example:
I had already eaten 5 apples but I still went on eating more apples, until finally, I had to vomit.
Go on to do sth
You continue doing sth but something new.
Example:
First I will tell you something about the vitamines contained in a beetroot, then I will go on to tell you something about the vitamines in other vegetables.
Regret to do sth
You must do sth, but you haven't yet done it and you don't take pleasure in doing it.
Example:
The airline regrets to announce that the flight to Munich is cancelled due to wild storms.
Regret doing something
You have already done something that you regret afterwards.
Example:
With the above flight to Munich cancelled, I regret not having taken my own private jet.
