    1) a before a consonant,  an before a vowel.

    2) Sounds matter, not spelling.

    Rule:
    - when the "h" is voiced, the word begins with an "h" (a consonant sound). => a

    - when the "h" is not voiced, have a look at the remaining sounds. => an
