    Borrow / lend

This lesson is about two verbs which are often misused in English: "borrow" and "lend".

    I) LEND:

    Sandra                                      Martian

If you don't have any book on Mars I can lend you some.

Sandra is lending the books to the Martian.

LEND  (lent, lent) : Sandra gives some books to the Martian so that he can read them.

(then he will have to give them back)

    II) BORROW:

The Martian has borrowed some books.

    BORROW:
the Martian has taken the books for some time.

Can I borrow the bicycle too?

    II) THE TWO VERBS TOGETHER:

When you need money you can borrow from a bank, but you will pay interest.

The bank doesn't lend money as a favour.
