    Question tags

    Tags

Questions tags are short questions that come at the end of sentences that reflect the main clause.

       For example:

    It's very cold tonight,isn't it?

Yes, it is, but it's much better than last night.

Le question tag dépend de la phrase qui  précède.

A-a positive main clause has a negative question tag

It has been a wonderful trip, hasn't it?

B-a negative main clause has a positive question tag

    Well, I don't want to stay here,do I?

    C-

Same tense for the two clauses. For example, for the present simple, use 'does' or 'do'. ('doesn't' /'don't').

    Wendy needs your help,doesn't she?

    D-Another example: preterie = use Did. ('Didn't').
or WAS / WERE (if it is BE)

She worked as a secretary for three years, didn't she?

BUT: She was a secretary, wasn't she ?

    Choose the correct 'tag'.
