    Passive- One/ They/ People....

One - They - People ... how to use them?

When you are generally speaking of something or someone, use ONE, like in proverbs

    One never knows.

When you speak in an informal way, use YOU

You can't remain calm in such a situation.

When you speak of your group of people, use WE

We'll have our meals in this room.

If you are not part of the group it is spoken about, use THEY

In England they drink a lot of tea.

Here English people will use WE, as they are part of the group.

When it is a gossip or so, use PEOPLE

People think she is going to get married.

    or passive voice :

She is said to be going to get married.

She is said to get married soon.

When the person speaking is unknown, use SOMEONE or the PASSIVE VOICE

    Someone knocked at the door.

    My car has been stolen.

When you give a common advice, a common order, use TO BE + PASSIVE VOICE

White wine is to be served with trout.

Exercise : choose the right word to complete the sentences.

    Here it is !...
