    Winds and weather

Winds are air in motion blowing from areas of high pressure to areas of low pressure. Winds are named by the direction from which they blow; their deflection is due to the rotation of the earth. They are deflected to the right in the Northern Hemisphere and to the left in the Southern Hemisphere.
