    Few/Little/Less


     Fewer is used with objects that can be counted one by one.

                   It is the comparative of few.

                   We use 'fewer' before plural nouns.

                   I have got fewer problems than I used to have.

                   Susan got fewer books than her sister.


      Few means 'not many', 'almost none'( few people, few books, few flowers ).

                   It emphasizes how small the number is.

                   We use  'few' before plural countable nouns.

                   'Few' has a negative meaning.

                   We can also use 'very few' .

                   She has very few good friends.

                   I am very sad. I have few friends.


     Little  is used before uncountable nouns with the singular forms.

                  'Little' means 'not much'.

                   It emphasizes how small the amount is.

                   'Little' has a negative meaning.

                   We can use also 'very little'.

                   I can't help you. I speak very little French.

                   There is little milk in the bottle.


        Less  is used with qualities or quantities that cannot be individually counted.        

                    It  is used with uncountable nouns ( money, work, travel ).

                    'Less' is the comparative form of little.

                    You drank less beer than he did.

                    She earns less money than her husband.
