    The Sacred Mountain Huang Shan


     

    The Sacred Mountain Huang Shan or Yellow Mountain is in the province of Anhui in Eastern China. A long time ago, I sincerely hoped I could see those landscapes which have inspired so many painters and poets.

    Early in the morning, the ascent towards the summit of the Yellow Mountain (to begin) in a thick fog. We blindly (to climb up) the slippery steps carved into the mountain one by one. Not a single noise (to disturb) that cloudy protection. Only our panting and heavy breathing (to give) rhythm to our walk. In spite of our disappointment, we (to continue) according ourselves from time to time a few minutes of rest to watch the fleecy ocean. After a three-hour ascent, a light breeze (to blow), the sun discreetly (to break) through the clouds. The mist (to lift) into long ribbons. The Sacred Mountain (to rise) in front of us. Everywhere ragged black peaks (to stand up), odd- shaped pine-trees (to grow) straight out of the rocks, braving deep ravines. We (to hear) again the torrents running down the valley. We (to catch) sight of squirrels,and birds soaring in the sky. Some bushes of rhododendrons (to colour) the landscape here and there. (to wear out) but satisfied, we (can) admire the Huangshan Mountain.
