    Irish pub

A pub is a good place to spend a pleasant evening. Pubs sell different sorts of beer, whiskey, wine and soft drinks. We meet over a pint of beer enjoying sandwiches or various foods like crisps or peanuts. There are also slot machines and jukeboxes.

There are lots of pubs in Ireland and many of them are very picturesque because they are very old. They have low ceilings with wooden beams blackened by smoke and age, a stone fireplace, heavy wooden tables and chairs and thick carpets on the floor. The lighting also contributes to the cosy atmosphere.

In the evening, pubs are usually crowded. They are very friendly and noisy and it's difficult to make oneself heard!

Often, a band with a good singer plays folk. Sometimes, there's a comedian who tells funny stories.

A nice pub is a good place to go to with a friend, especially if he is a foreigner and is looking for a typical Irish experience.
