Los Angeles
Located on the site of an ancient village of Tongvas Indians, it was founded in 1781 by Felipe de Neve under the name "El Pueblo de la Reina de Los Angeles".
Second most populous city in the United States after New York, its urban area has about eighteen million inhabitants. Its size is about 1290 km². Bordered to the north by the San Gabriel Mountains (highest point 3,068 m), to the west and south by the Pacific Ocean, it allows the Angelinos to ski and go to the beach in the same day.
Olympic city (summer 1932 and 1984) and cosmopolitan city, it is the third port in the world and the city with the most airports. Los Angeles also has 379 parks (39.5 km²), 11 908 restaurants and is twinned with 25 cities including Athens, Mexico City, St Petersburg, Bordeaux and Berlin.
