    Take and use


     

    The word take can be used as a verb or as a noun in a sentence. Take has a lot of meanings.

    Take is used instead of many verbs particularly in speaking and informal writing. Take is an irregular verb.The present simple form is take (infinitive), the past simple form is took, the past participle form is taken and the present participle form is taking. Take can be used as a phrasal verb with a few prepositions. In this case, the meaning of the phrasal verb depends on the preposition. Below, some different meanings of take are shown.

    Cause someone/something to move. Perform an action.

    Need something. Accept something.

    Win prize/election. Reach out and get something.

    Study a particular subject. Remove something.

    Get a picture/measure. Get something from an opponent.

    Use type of transport. About use of the equipment.

    Use food/drink. Wear a particular size.

    Use product regularly. Use something in a discussion.

    Think of in a particular way. Do or have something.

    Have a feeling/opinion. Be successful.

    Be responsible for class.
