Once upon a time, somewhere on this marvelous Earth.

My family rented this house in the midle of the countryside. I was four years old. In the field next to the house, there were radioactive drums, and we were forbiden to go and play there!

But behind the house, a huge, unfenced orchard spread out. It was my favorite playground. Certainly, in my eyes as a little girl it seemed huge to me! It was stil more than four hundred meters long! At the time, we knew of famine, and thanks to this orchard, we had been fed for years : apricot trees, cherry trees, pear trees, fig trees, almond trees, medlar trees, plum trees, olive trees, pomegranate trees, date plum trees, wild grapevines, and so on. All we had to do was to cross this countryside path that bordered the house. This path was vanishing in the nearby forest, where there were pine trees, and their pine kernel, oak trees, and their acorn.

At first, Mum accompagnied us there, we played and watched all this little world at our feets, and Mum taught us about everything we could find there.
