    Since 1989, Paris has had two opera houses, the new Opera Bastille and the older Opera Garnier. In baroque style, the Opera Garnier, also called the ' Palais Garnier ' , is one of the most sumptous buildings in Paris and in a few line we will relate its history.
    In 1860, a competition was held to faind the architect who would design the project for an ' Academy of Music and Dance ' . Charles Garnier was 35 years old and had never bilt anything. Yet he won the competition with a project that combined several type of architecture. The architect wanted to create a visual bondary betwen the everyday and the dream world.
    His building is extremelie ornate, but it retains enough finesse to allow a feling of elegance and rafinement.
