In the present perfect simple the actions are not finished or it is an assessment.
- Subject + have/has + Verb.
- The boys have played for two hours.
- She has taught English for 12 years.
- It has taken 3 years to make these shoes.
In the present perfect continuous the actions are not finished and we insist on the duration.
- Subject + have/has + been + Verb-ING.
- They have been playing tennis for two hours.
- She has been teaching English for one hour.
- He has been reading this book for 3 months.
