Dictation - Paris - The covered passages 1/2

Find 10 mistakes in this text.
Paris is full of secret places, which still bear witnes to its history.
At the end of the 18th century, Paris still had the characteristics of the Middle Ages : mudy streets without pavements or sewes, very congested, bad smells, porly lit at night, with risks of accidents.
This is how the first covered passages in Paris come into being and gave rhytm to life in the capital during the first half of the 19th century. They made it possible to walk around and go to the shops while being shetered from the bad weather and the anarchic traffic of the street. The architecture was both extraordinary and innovative for its time. Indeed, these galeries were pierced in the middle of the buildings and toped with glass windows. The forerunners of our modern galleries also provided a convenient shortcut and alowed pedestrians to cross from one neighbourhood to another.
Paris had up to 150 passages during the Second Empire.
