Today, I propose a visit to a museum little know to Parisians. It is the Musée des Arts Forains, which house a collection of objects from the show business and funfairs created some thity years ago by Jean-Paul Favand. He was originaly a comedian and antique dealer. This unique collection, covering the 19th and 20th centuries, remains today the largest in Europe.
Jean-Paul Favand, who also created the ' Louvre des antiquaires ' , designed the different areas of this museum, which he deliberatly did not want to be a shocase, and in which he is constantly adding new acquisitions. This reconstruction of the festivals of yesteyear has been housed since 1996 in the former Bercy wine halls.
The museum occupie several millstone pavillions with sloping roofs covering an area of 1800 m2, built by the architect Lheureux, a student of Gustave Eiffel.
This unique place, a museum and a live show, can be visite twice : between Christmas and New Year ' s Day and during the Heritage Days ; for the other periods it is only on reservation.
