The Venice Carnaval is now one of the most prestigious. It is synonymous with rafinement and elegance. Known for its costumes and masks, it atracts huge crowds from all over the world.
However, arriving in Venice by train is unusual as the platforms seem to come from the centre of the lagon.
As soon as you leave the station, the city seems to be teeming with a nautical universe. Indeed, all activities require the use of a ' vaporetto ' . The banks of the Canal are lined with magnificient 17th century Venetian-Byzantine palaces. St. Mark ' s Square, the Basilica and the Doge ' s Palace are the most beautiful Gothic buildings in Venice with their stone lacewok. In the past, all of Venice ' s life revolved around Saint Mark ' s Square, the true heart of the city. During the Mardi Gras period, this square is the place to see magnificent costumes, somptuous and refined, each more original than the last, where you will discover the fantasie and creativitea of their authors. In the streets, the pedestrian traffic is dense even compact, as some streets are only alowed in one direction.
