Brief reminder of Part 1 (without mistake ) : Before it became this great Parisian park, La Villette was just a small farming village. With industrialisation (shipping and the railway ), the town developed, notably with the creation of large abattoirs. It was on this site that this Park was designed in 1979. In 1979, the Parc de La Villette was designe with the triple objectif of creating a major architectural complex dedicat to music, a science and industry centre and a large green space. Today, this complex, created by the architecte Bernard Tschumi, combines nature and architecture, loisure and culture. With its 55 hectares, 33 of which are green spaces, this park is one of the most baeutiful and largest parks in Paris. Art and culture, science and education meet here. Built on the banks of the Seine, this is a very plaisant place to walk along the quays, picnic in one of the many parks. The activityes are numerous but let us quote the main ones : the city of sciences and industry, the great hall, the city of the music with the Zenith and the Geode (developed in another chapter ), without counting the courses of horsemanship, cruises in electric boat on the Seine. In 2024, it will host fencing, weightlifting and taekwondo evants during the Olympic Games. The Parc de la Villette is celebrat its 44th anniversary. Its success is confirmed with 10 million visitors a year flocking to this largest park in Paris. |
