Vocabulary: size

In this lesson, we'll revise the words and expressions which will enable you to give

information and your opinion about the sizes of people and things. 

Please, notice: remember:

 - that an adjective or noun + the suffix -en gives the corresponding verb. 

(whiten/ widen/ lengthen/ deepen/ shorten/ thicken...) test

- that an adjective + the suffix -ness gives the corresponding abstract noun: 

(vastness/ heaviness/ lightness/ littleness/ thinness/...) test

A FEW IDIOMS: 

- of average weight/ of average height/

- To cut/ kick (someone) down to size

(to criticize one in an attempt to deflate their ego)

- One size fits all: Supposedly well-suited to anybody or any situation

- life-size: a variant of "life-sized."

(Matching the real-life size of someone or something)

- person of size: a fat or obese person 

- all of a size: (said when every item or thing in a group is the same size)
