    It's one of those words that students call "these little words we don't really know what they're for"

     

    but that happen to be very useful when you know them!

     

    1) ABOUT: (on the subject of): 

    - To talk about something (+ noun) 

    - To talk about why... 

    - To think about

    - To be sorry about something

                                     

     

    2) ABOUT: (approximately/ more or less)

    - The child was about two years old. 


    3) TO BE ABOUT TO DO SOMETHING.(on the point of) 

    - The train was about to enter the station. 

     

                                                 

     

    4) A FEW EXPRESSIONS: 

    - To be crazy about something

    - To see about something: I must see about getting some food prepared for our guests tonight

     

                               

     

    - How about + ing... / What about + ing...? : suggesting

    - I walked about the streets

    - There were books lying about the room

    - Turn about GB)/ around(US)

    - To bang about/ around

    - To be on about: to speak endlessly

    - It's about time+ subjunctive. 

     

                                                                                          

     

    - To be up and about... 

    - To do an about-face

    - Along about 4 (around 4 o'clock)
