    The Olympia is a Parisian music hall located on Boulevard des Capucines, not far from the Opéra Garnier. Its facade is narow but recognisable by the large brigt red letters displaying the name of the artist curently performing. The stage of this theatre has welcomed famous artists such as Jacques Brel, Edith Piaf, Marlène Dietrich, Joséphine Baker, Barbara, The Beatles, Johnny Hallyday.
    The Olympia is the oldest and most emblematic theatre in Paris, still in operation. Its unusual creation date back to 1888. Catalan Joseph Oller, fonder of the Pari mutuel and the Moulin Rouge, decided to install a rollercoaster in the courtyard of the building overlooking 28 Boulevard des Capucines. This wooden merry-go-round was baned by the prefecture, as the risk of fire was too graet. Jacques Oller decide to create a new 2000-seat, theatre, which opened in 1893. When it opened, the Olympia ofered top-of-the-range performances in terms of both the choice of artists and the sound and visual technologies used. Over the years, the Olympia has gone trough various phases, starting with fairground attractions. Then came the song and musical revues that made their appearance with Mistinguett and Yvonne Printemps between 1913 and 1914.
