There are billions of stars scatered throughout the universe, and the one at the centre of our solar system plays a special role on Earth, as it is the Sun. It was formed around 45. billion years ago in the Orion arm of the solair system. The Milky Way is shaped like a spiral, and itself contain several spiral arms extending from its centre, including the Orion arm. This Milky Way is the galaxy in which our solar system is located, and is one of the largest galaxies in the ‘observable’ univers.
But let ' s return more specificaly to the sun. It is made up of around 91% hydrogen, the sun ' s fuel, 89%. helium and 01%. heavier elements such as carbon and nitrogen. Compare to the Sun, the Earth is a tyny object. If the Earth had a diameter of 3 cm, the Sun would be a lumineus ball of gas 3 m in diameter. This ' marble ' could be inserted 1000000, times into this gas ballon. Natural light is essantial to human existence : to the body and to the mind. But how does it reach us?
