    Present simple - English lesson

    Uses:

To talk about habits, likes, or repeated actions
(e.g. I go to school every day.)

    To express general truths
(e.g. The sun rises in the east.)

To talk about a fixed schedule
    (e.g. The train leaves at 8 a.m.)

    Formation:

🔹 Affirmative form: Subject + Verb (+ -s in the 3rd person singular)

    I play football.
    He plays football.

    A few special cases :

When the verb ends in: -ch, -sh, -s, -x, -z, -o, you add -ES:

    He watches TV.
    She goes to school.
    It finishes at 6 p.m.
He misses the bus every day.

When the verb ends in consonant + Y, change the Y to IES:

She studies hard. (study → studies)
He carries his bag. (carry → carries)

❗But if the verb ends in vowel + Y, just add -S:

    He plays the guitar.

    🔹 Negative form: Subject + don't / doesn't + Verb

She doesn't like coffee. (3rd person singular)
    They don't work on Sundays.

🔹 Interrogative form: Do / Does + Subject + Verb

    Do you like music?
Does he play tennis? (3rd person singular)
