    Types of books - English lesson


    In English, there are several words to talk about different types of books. Here are the most common ones, with simple definitions and examples.

     

     

    1. Dictionary
    A dictionary is a book that gives the meaning of words.
    I use a dictionary to understand new English words.

     

    2. Magazine
    A magazine is a weekly or monthly publication with articles, photos, and advertisements.
    My sister reads a fashion magazine every week.

     

    3. Novel
    A novel is a long story with characters and events that are invented.
    I love reading adventure novels.

     

    4. Fairy tale
    A fairy tale is a magical story for children, often with princesses or talking animals.
    Cinderella is a famous fairy tale.

     

    5. Atlas
    An atlas is a book of geographical maps.
    We used an atlas to find countries in Africa.

     

    6. Poem
    A poem is a short piece of writing, often with rhymes, used to express emotions or ideas.
    I wrote a poem about love for school.

     

    7. Textbook
    A textbook is a school book with lessons and exercises.
    This is my English textbook.

     

    8. Biography
    A biography is a book that tells the life of a real person.
    I read a biography of Nelson Mandela.

     

    9. Manual
    A manual is a book of instructions to help you use something.
    Read the manual before using the camera.

     

    10. Guidebook
    A guidebook gives information for tourists about a place or country.
    I bought a guidebook about London.
