Questions past simple - English lesson
QUESTIONS PAST SIMPLE
A. Using "did" to ask a question:
We use "did" to ask questions in the past simple with most verbs.
✅ Did he go?
❌ Did he went?
🔹 Note: The main verb stays in the infinitive form without "to" (the base form).
B. Common mistakes to avoid:
❌ Did he went? → The verb is already in the past with "did", so we don't use the past form again.
❌ Was he go?
❌ Is he go?
❌ Has he go?
✅ Did he go?
C. Don't use "did" with "was" or "were". These are two different structures.
✅ Was he happy?
❌ Did he be happy?
🔹 Rules:
Use "was/were" with adjectives or with the verb "to be" in the past.
Use "did" with all other verbs.
