Saying you love someone - A Little, A Lot, or Not at All - English lesson

English Lesson: Saying you Love Someone - A Little, A Lot, or Not at All

    Lesson goal :
    Learn how to:

    - talk about love and feelings

    - say "I love you" in different ways

    - express if you do not love someone - kindly and respectfully

    1.  Saying "I like you" - A little!
These phrases are soft and friendly. You can use them with friends or someone you know:

    I like you.

    I care about you.

    You're a nice person.

I feel good when I'm with you.

I enjoy spending time with you.

Be careful: "I like you" can sometimes sound romantic, depending on how and when you say it.

    2.  Saying "I like you" or "I love you" - A lot:
Use these if you feel close to someone - a friend, a partner, or a family member:

    I really like you.

    I like you a lot.

    I care deeply about you.

You mean a lot to me.

    I miss you.

These sentences show strong connection, without always meaning romantic love.

    3. Romantic love - Saying "I Love You":
When you are in love, or feel something very strong for someone:

    I love you.

    I'm in love with you.

You are the love of my life.

I think about you all the time.

    I can't live without you.

    You make my heart happy.

These phrases are for someone special: boyfriend, girlfriend, partner.

    4. Love in the family:
Yes, you can say "I love you" to family, too! Here are some examples:

    I love you, Mom.

    I love you, Dad.

I love you, Grandma / Grandpa.

    I love you, little brother.

    I love you so much.

I'm happy to be your son/daughter.

Thank you for everything you do for me.

    5. Saying "I Don't Love You" - politely
It's okay to say no, but it's important to be kind.
Here are some good and respectful ways to say you don't feel the same:

If someone likes you, but you don't feel the same:
I don't love you like that.

I'm not in love with you.

I think we should stay friends.

I don't feel the same way.

    I don't want a relationship right now.

If you don't like someone very much (respectful but clear):
    I don't feel comfortable.

I'd prefer to keep some distance.

    We are very different.

    I'm not interested.

I don't think this is working.

    To stop contact (still respectful):
I don't want to talk to you anymore.

I think we should stop seeing each other.

I want to be honest with you.

I don't want to hurt you, but I need to be clear.

    6. Useful words:

    - like  = soft feelings, friendship or light love
    - love = deep feelings, family or romantic love
    - care = emotional connection
-miss = feel sad when someone is not there
    - feel = have emotions

    FOCUS ON MISS:
"Miss" means to feel sad because someone or something is not here.
    It shows absence and longing.

    How to use "miss":
"Miss" is a verb and is followed directly by the person or thing you miss.

No prepositions like "to" after "miss."

    Examples:
    I miss my family.

    She misses her friends.

We missed the party last night. (Here, "miss" means "did not go" or "were absent.")

    Common mistakes:
Don't say: I miss to you. (wrong)

    Correct: I miss you.
