Buying shoes.
While finishing the preceding lesson, I suddenly felt like 'talking' about shoes...
To set my mind at rest, I checked thoroughly through the list of lessons and was
quite surprised to find a lesson I had made years ago and had forgotten about.
testSome elements have obviously not changed and might have to be repeated. Yet,
I feel like devoting this lesson to conversation, and useful sentences to buy
shoes.
This time, I will concentrate our effort on 'formal shoes' worn to go out in
society, go to a party or a ceremony.
- I'm in need of new shoes!
- I'm looking for formal shoes. Can you assist me, please? (To assist: to help)
- May I bring a few options in that size for you to try on?
Problem of size: length/ width/ height
- These shoes feel a bit tight, do you have size eight? Size 7 doesn't fit.
- Let me check if we have size 7.5 available.
- Please, try these ones on and see how they feel.
- To try on: to try shoes on // they're too tight
Problem of style or colours:
- Size 8 is much too loose and I think they're not formal enough: they won't
suit the occasion.
- Can I see them in a different colour? They also come in red and beige.
Problem of price and payment:
- How much do they cost?/ How much are they?
- Will you be paying in cash, or by card?
- Let me process with the payment...
That's it! You're now the owner of your dream shoes.
Now, go for the test!
