Macbeth, by Donazzan Adrien
Macbeth
Mac Bethad mac Findlaich, otherwise called Macbeth, was born in around 1005.
His father, Finlay Mormaer of Moray was high steward (earl in today's words) of a province of Scotland. His mother was probably Donada, the second daughter of Malcom II.
Macbeth slaughtered the king, Duncan I, in August 1040, to get to the throne and become King of Scotland. He was married to Kenneth III's granddaughter, Gruoch.
The King of Scotland, Macbeth, promoted Christianity ( he did himself a pilgrimage to Rome in 1050) and established law and order .
Duncan's son, Malcolm (later, Malcolm III), organised several invasions. In 1057, Malcolm was successful, and in August Macbeth was killed at the battle of Lumphonan in Aberdeenshire, by Malcom Commore himself.
Macbeth has become most famous thanks to the eponymous play by Skakespeare and he was identified as a monster and an usurper because of the way he started to reign.
