Prepositions of time and dates:
- At, on, in:
certain common uses
at 7:00, at a time, at midnight, at night, at Easter, at Christmas...
on a day, on Friday, on 10th March, on Christmas day
on the night of 10th March.
in a period, in the evening, in December, in 1983, in summer.
At,by,till/until:
"at 7.00" means at that time exactly.
Eg. dinner will be served at 7.00.
"by 7.00" means either at that time or more usually, at some time before it.
Eg. I was ready by 7.00.
"till/until" 7.00 means from a certain time to 7.00.
Eg. I 'll be working till 7.00.
Eg. I will be here until my mother comes.
on time, in time:
"on time" means at the right time.
Eg. The plane left on time.
"in time" means not late.
Eg. We'll be in time for the show.
