Abraham Lincoln, American president. A biography by Sean Ded

    Georges Abraham Lincoln

Georges Abraham Lincoln was born in Kentucky in 1809 and died on April 15th in 1865 .
Abraham was not spoiled with his education. His dad moved to India when he was 8, his mum died when he was 10, he grew up in a wild region but luckily knew how to read and write and had great ambitions.

He married Mary Todd and had four sons, three of wh
    om died young.

He was first elected senator and then became president of the USA in 1860.He built up the Republican party.

As president, he rallied most northern states to the Union during the civil war.

(The civil war,or secession war, 1861 1865,  opposed  northern states, the Union,  and southern states, the Confederates. The southern states had declared independent from the federal government and had organized into a seceding confederacy. They were opposed to the abolishment of slavery on which their economy was based.)

Although extremely famous and much loved by Americans, he was shot in the head, on Good Friday, in the Ford theatre in Washington. His assassin was John Wilkes Booth.

His strong presidency brought peace to the nation and his speeches like the Gettysburg address inspired many.

Some people believe they have seen, heard or even touched Lincoln as a ghost.Eleanor Roosevelt, first lady never saw him but could feel his presence in the white house. A clerk said he saw him in the white house and Winston Churchill saw his spirit while taking a bath there!

Sightings of Lincoln's spirit in various locations continue to intrigue.
