When, As soon as, … + future ?
No future after 'When', 'As soon as', 'As long as', 'Until' ('till')… + subordinate clause
I'll go to the dentist's as soon as I have (no future!) a toothache.
What a mess! Your mother will be angry when she comes back. (no future!)
I'll stay at home until you phone me. (no future!)
Only the verb in the main clause is in the future tense:
'Will you still need me … when I'm sixty-four?' (The Beatles)
I will phone you as soon as I arrive.
Jenny will rent this flat as long as she lives in Brighton.
Warning! The subordinate clause can be at the beginning of the sentence!
When tears are in your eyes I will dry them all. (Paul Simon)
As soon as you meet Janet, you will love her.
Until you are eighteen, you will not drive a car.
