Present simple or progressive
Present simple :-
1-for habits and for repeated actions in the present.
Ex:-they often go to the cinema on Saturdays.
2-for permanent states in the present.
Ex:- I work in the supermarket
3-for general truth.
Ex:- the sun rises in the east.
4-for actions that take place according to a schedule.
Ex:- the film begins at half past eight.
Present progressive:
1-for actions that are happening now,at the moment of speaking.
Ex:- listen!john is playing the piano.
2-for temporary actions that are happening around the time of speaking.
Ex:-Jim is working at a garage for the summer.
3-for actions that we have planned to do in the near future (we mention when)
Ex:- Helen is going on holiday next week.
