Kate, Kensington Palace and Queen Elizabeth II
Kensington Palace has been a residence of the Royal Family since the 17th century. William III moved there in 1689 because at that time Kensington was a small village near London, but it was not as smoky as the capital and William III was asthmatic.
Kate and William have moved to a flat in Kensington Palace for a couple of days, but it is too small for a family. Besides, they consider their rented farmhouse on the island of Anglesey as their main home. They'll probably move to a renovated flat in Kensington Palace next year, in 2013.
Kensington Gardens lie immediately to the west of the neighbouring Hyde Park from which they were originally taken.
On St Patrick's Day, Kate was wearing a coat in traditional green for her first solo military engagement and presented Irish officers with shamrocks.
Queen Elizabeth with the Duchess of Cambridge on her Diamond Jubilee tour of the U.K. on 8th March 2012. They both look happy to be together.
