Present simple
I) HOW TO USE
Main uses:
- Likes and dislikes / Opinions. I like chocolate.
- Something that happens again and again. I go to school at eight.
- Facts that are always true. The Earth goes round the sun.
II) HOW TO BUILD Affirmative sentences:
I play, you play...
I go, you go...
WARNING! 3rd person singular: add -s OR -es.
He plays, she plays...
He goes, she goes...
Negative and interrogative sentences: use do / does, don't / doesn't.
I don't play, she doesn't play...
Do you go...
Does she go...
Spelling changes (3rd person singular)
-s is changed into -es :
a) when the verb ends in -s => She dresses her doll.
b) when the verbs ends in -sh or c => Every morning she brushes her hair.
c) when the verb ends in -o => In summer he goes to the country.
-s is changed into -ies when the verb ends in -y
try => tries, carry => carries
NOT when there is another vowel before the -y
say => says , pay => pays
III) EXERCISE
Complete with the present simple. Don't use contracted forms.
