    Message from mohammad51 posted on 28-11-2021 at 16:57:36 (D | E | F)
    Hello
I picked up the following exercise somewhere and I answered.
    Please review my answers.
    Thank you in advance.

Change the following Simple Sentences into Complex Sentences, each containing a Noun Clause :
    1. No one can tell the time of his coming.
No one can tell when he will come.
    2. His place of concealment is known to the police.
The police know where he is concealed.
    3. I do not know the time of the departure of the train.
I don't know the time when the train will depart.
    4. He did not tell me the place of his birth.
He didn't tell me where he was born.
    5. He must hope for better times.
It is hoped (by him) that better time will come
    6. He confessed his guilt.
He confessed that he was guilty.
    7. No one knows the day of his death.
No one knows the day when he died.
    8. It is said to have been built by a king.
It is said that a king has built it.
    9. Obedience to your parents is your first duty.
That you obey your parents is your first duty.
    10. I heard of his success.
I heard that he was succeeded.

    ---

    I only got trouble with Q 8
    8. It is said to have been built by a king. >>
It is said that a king has built it. ? OR :
A ) It is said that it has been built by a king.
    B) There is a building that has been built by a king.
I am really confused with this
Which is the most suitable solution to go with ?

    2. His place of concealment is known to the police.
The police know where he is concealed./where he hides.
    3. I do not know the time of the departure of the train.
I don't know the time when the train will depart. I don't know what time the train will leave.
    4. He did not tell me the place of his birth.

    6. He confessed his guilt.

    7. No one knows the day of his death.
No one knows the day when he died.(if it is somebody else's death, ok for the preterite.)
If it is the time of your own death (but it could also be somebody else's, come to think of it) : No one knows when he will die, which day he will die.
    8. It is said to have been built by a king.
It is said that a king has built it. I would put it in the preterite: It is said that a king built it.
    9. Obedience to your parents is your first duty.
That you obey your parents is your first duty.
    10. I heard of his success.
I heard that he was succeeded. I heard that he was successful. I heard that he had succeeded.
    ---
    I only got trouble with Q 8
    8. It is said to have been built by a king. >>
It is said that a king has built it. ? OR :
A ) It is said that it has been built by a king. Whatever.

    B) There is a building that has been built by a king. Less straightforward.
