    Use of do /help
    Message from lehongkhanh posted on 14-11-2013 at 02:54:22 (D | E | F)
    Hello,

I can't understand this clause " we do have a large envelope for you at the front desk".
    1. Is there a similarity between English and French : "do have" and "faire avoir" ?
    2. Why in English grammar books don't they talk about this use of the verb "do"? Is it only a particular use?
    Thank you for your help.

    Hello.
When do is not used as an auxiliary verb, it is a way of insisting. Yes, we have the envelope at the desk. It is certain.
    I hope this helps.
    Sherry
