    Traduction/ phrase difficile
    Message de vincentb63 posté le 13-12-2017 à 18:11:43 (S | E | F)
    Bonjour,
Je suis en train de traduire un texte de l'anglais au français, et voici la phrase qui me pose un sérieux problème :
"The space itself might be considered a movie set: in its various degrees of appearance, it fades like a gradient from a perhaps comically post-apocalyptic slash run-down to a clean white cube akin environment."
Dans cette phrase, que peut bien signifier "slash run-down" ?
Je vous remercie beaucoup pour votre aide.
    vincent

Pour l'instant, j'ai traduit de cette façon :

L'espace lui-même peut être considéré comme un plateau de tournage : dans ses multiples apparitions, il prend la forme d'une sorte d'entaille post-apocalyptique presque comique qui se fond en un environnement aseptisé semblable au white cube.

    Hello.
You can write it this way...post-apocalyptic/run-down..., to show that either of the words could apply.
    I hope this helps. Sherry

    Thanks a lot Sherry,
Do you think that this sentence is correct then ? :

"... it fades like a gradient from a perhaps comically post-apocalyptic/run-down to a clean white cube akin environment."

It seems to me that "comically post-apocalyptic/run-down is refering to nothing.

Thank you again for your help.

    Hello.
Actually. the quote doesn't make much sense to me.
The space itself might be considered a movie set: this part is clear enough-- a scene where something is acted out.
in its various degrees of appearance, it fades like a gradient-the appearance seems to gradually change
from a perhaps comically post-apocalyptic--seems to be talking about the range of appearance beginning? as a wasteland
slash (or) run-down-can have the sense of being in bad condition, so that could be connected with a wasteland or destroyed area
to a clean white cube-in the sense empty or deserted?
    akin-usually means similar to-environment.
Sorry, but it doesn't make sense to me.
    Sherry
