    Bonjour,

When social phobia occurs, it is important to think about a way to interact with the child and to try to understand the causes. To fight scholar phobia as efficiently as possible, healthcare professional recommend to follow 3 steps: To diagnose, to initiate a dialogue between the children, the family and scholar environment and eventually the medical community, then pass to the care phase.
Children who suffer from scholar phobia should not be ignored by caregivers. An attentive listening is essential to diagnose the pathology. It is important to understand children’s fears to avoid serious consequences, like descholarization. It is recommended to react at the first sign. A key to success is rapid intervention; the longer the behaviour occurs, the harder it is to treat.
At the first time it is necessary to alert the school educational staff, teachers, nurse and scholar doctor. The problem could be solve with there collaboration. Parents need to get closer with mental health professionals to work together to identify what is causing or maintaining this behaviour and to develop a comprehensive plan of intervention.
It is important to research the origins in the aim of understand when and why phobia is appeared. Parent should attempt to discover if there is a specific problem causing the refusal. There have to ask the children to know what's going on in school, how are his school relationship, if he is integrated, or if he is bullied. But, it is often difficult to talk for the children. If the child is able to identify a specific problem, then the parents should immediately talk to the child’s teacher about developing an appropriate plan to solve the problem.
Treatment depends upon the causes, which can be difficult to determinate. Several treatment plans may need to be tried. There is no single therapeutic method: each children have to follow an adapted method, built around his specific needs and his character. In some case it can be a good idea to use some less conventional methods, in addition to more conventional methods like psychotherapies, family therapy, or sport activities. Also, there are some relaxation techniques that could be include on the treatment like hypnosis. With school phobias, there is a subjective part and several possible strategies.
