Merci pour cette leçon sur les verbes d'opinion.
Je n'arrive pas à à comprendre la différence entre :

I don't like thinking et I don't like to think.
I prefer sleeping instead of working et I prefer to sleep instead of working.

On avait à l'époque en test d'entrée en compréhension orale en quatrième une interview de prof qui disait:
I like teaching. (goût général, habitude)
I like to teach in good conditions. choix de vie, point de vue intellectuel.

Idem pour
I like driving.
I like to drive powerful cars.

I like diving. Goût.
I like to dive with him, he is a good partner : Choix.

On pourrait donc comprendre:
I don't like thinking twice before buying something : habitude de vie, goût habituel.
I don't like to think about death : choix intellectuel précis.

Prefer se construit avec to :
I prefer coffee to tea.
I prefer drinking coffee to drinking tea : goût habituel

No, I won't go to the cinema with you tonight. I prefer to stay at home instead of going to the cinema /rather than go to the cinema. Choix précis.
