bonjour , pouvez vous voir si mes phrases avec le modal DEVOIR sont correctes? merci d'avance
1. Son prochain roman doit sortir au printemps. je l'attends avec impatience
His next novel must publish in spring. I am waiting for it with impatience.
2. Je devais aller chez le dentiste avant hier mais j'ai dû annuler le rendez-vous
I had to go to the dentist yesterday but I had to cancel the date.
3. Tu devrais arrêter de fumer
You should stop smoking.
4. Je ne trouve pas Tom. il a dû partir
I do not find Tom. He had must leave.
5. Il devait être sept heures quand nous sommes arrives.
It must be seven o'clock when we arrived
6. Je pense que l'on doit réfléchir avant d'agir.
I think that we should think before acting..

BE TO exprime un projet, un contrat, un arrangement convenu d'avance.
Il se traduit par le français « devoir »
I am to visit the United States next summer.
We are to have lunch together tomorrow.
Ne pas perdre de vue :
BE TO + INF = projet
HAVE TO + INF = nécessité
Must have + participe passé
You must have been afraid (quasi certitude). Conclusion logique concernant un fait passé.
To look forward to + V-ing ──► attendre avec impatience
