    Through ou By ?
    Message de dan2604 posté le 15-04-2010 à 10:55:16 (S | E | F)

    Bonjour,
Je cherche à traduire, pour une présentation, la phrase suivante :
"Le problème va être pris en charge par le responsable"
    Doit-on traduire :

"The problem will be supported by[ou]through the responsible" ?

    Merci d'avance

    Bonjour,

""The problem will be supported by[ou]through the responsible" ?
Pourquoi ne pas tourner la phrase autrement:

    - Le responsable prendra en charge le problème:

The manager will deal with the problem.

    'responsible ' est un adjectif

You are responsible for doing something, which means you are in charge of...

    Un responsable would be : a manager/ a person in charge .

    Hope I helped.

    Regards.

    Hello headway !
Thank you very much for your help

    Bonjour!
    A closer translation might be:

The problem will be handled by the manager.

Une traduction du verbe 'prendre' comme [problème] est 'to handle'

    Bonsoir,

    or, it would be:

The problem will be taking care by the person in charge.

    Hello May,

    I am afraid not:

The problem will be taking care by the person in charge.

    But you may say:

Who will be taking care of my child?

Tax and service charges will be taken care of by us.

[edit] Your are Welcome. Nice try, May! Now, why are YOU always ALMOST right? I give a hint: May be cause you are too "active"?. Encore un petit effort

    Hello Prescott,

why are you almost always right? Definitely, I did miss a very important part of speech in the sentence! I am taking care of it right away. Let me rephrase:

The problem will be taking care of by the person in charge.

    Thank you, Prescott.

    Regards,

    bonjour may

Votre phrase devrait être une voix passive. Donc, pas de forme en -ING.
Relisez bien les 2 exemples de prescott: la 1ère phrase est une voix active (infinitif futur progressif), la 2ème une voix passive.

    Modestement

    Good morning,

    Merci Lamy pour votre explication

    and Hello again Prescott,

Your are Welcome. Nice try, May! Now, why are YOU always ALMOST right? I give a hint: May be cause you are too "active"

yes, you are always almost right on the way you put your are welcome, and
May be cause you are too "active" .

Now, I am going to be more "passive" than ever:

By the person in charge, the problem will be taken care of.

    It's wonderful, isn't it?
