    Translation /block offices
    Message de chiara posté le 31-01-2011 à 07:45:43 (S | E | F)
    Hello everyone out there,
I'm doing translations xxx as a volunteer and right now I'm translating a document on India and I'm having some troubles with the translation of "block offices" and "block development officers".
    The sentence goes as follows:
"We carry out visit to block offices to learn about the various government schemes from block development officers and this has benefited us a lot as we are now aware about the various schemes which government is running to make education accessible for us all."
Could anyone please explain the meaning of those words?

    Thanks in advance.

In India, block is a district sub-division. For planning purpose district is divided into Blocks.

Block Development Officer is the incharge of the block. BDO monitor the implementation of all the programs related to planning and development of the blocks. To make the co-ordination in the development work and for implementation of various schemes at various blocks, there is an officer i.e. Chief Development Officer(cdo).

" An office block " is a building with flats, if you find a link with your work...

I hope I helped you ! Bye and good luck !
