    Let ou Leave
    Message de ank007 posté le 23-09-2011 à 18:25:29 (S | E | F)
    Hello,

    Pouvez-vous m'aider s'il vous plaît?
Decide whether you would use let or leave, lets or leaves in each blank.
Write the correct words in a list.

1-The train leaves in five minutes.
2-Please let me use Jim's book.
3-Dad will leave us go along.
4-The boys will leave camp tomorrow.
5-Don't let anyone see the play pratice.
6-Linda will have to leave by five o'clock.
7-Karen leaves today for a visit.
8-Dad will let us take the canoe.
9-Jack's brother let him use football.
10-The bus leaves from this corner.

    Bonsoir,

1-The train leaves in five minutes.
2-Please let me use Jim's book.
3-Dad will leave us go along.
4-4-The boys will leave camp tomorrow.
5-Don't let anyone see the play pratice.
6-Linda will have to leave by five o'clock.
7-Karen leaves today for a visit.
8-Dad will let us take the canoe.
9-Jack's brother let him use football.
10-The bus leaves from this corner.

à mon avis, seule la phrase 3 est à revoir.
    see you.

    Bonsoir,
Il ne manque pas quelque chose dans la phrase 9? un article, par exemple.. car la phrase ne veut pas dire grand chose, telle quelle.
    Amicalement.

La 3ème phrase devrait être "let", mais quelques phrases ne me semblent pas si "anglaises" ou si "naturelles".

    Hello ank007.
Regarding #9, it depends on whether it is present or past tense. He lets him use the football everyday. He let him use the football last week. Sherry

    Hello.

In some dialects, "leave" is used as a synonym for "let" -- or more precisely "allow", since it can be put into the passive voice:

I'm sorry, my parents have told me I'm not left to see you anymore.

See you (if I am left to ).

    Hello,
(Sherry) What I meant was there was something like a "the" missing...in sentence 9.

Hi brettdallen. Yes, I knew what you meant, but I didn't mention it because nothing needed to be added to what you said. I'm just so used to my students missing the 's' on third person singular present tense, that I couldn't resist adding that comment. Of course, they also forget the articles! Sherry
