    Memorable teacher/correction
    Message de abracadabra posté le 24-09-2011 à 20:40:18 (S | E | F)
    Hi everybody !
Could you correct my text please?

I will always remember mister D. He was a stout man with receding hairs and piercing eyes. The first day I met him, I was only nine years old, and he reduced me to tears. However, he was frightenning everyone in my class as he was used to throw chalk at you each time you were misbehaving ! Moreover "You are all stupid " was his catch phrase, even now when I hear the word "stupid" , it reminds me of him ! Nevertheless, he forced us to work and we all passed the exams.

    Thanks for your help ;-)

    Hello Abracadabra,

I will always remember mister D (often written Mr except in songs sometimes) He was a stout man with receding hairs (indénombrable singulier) and piercing eyes. The first day I met him, I was only nine years old, and he reduced me to tears 1. However 2, he was 3 frightenning (orthographe) everyone in my class as he was used to throw 4 chalk at you each time (ou whenever) you were misbehaving ! Moreover "You are all stupid " was his catch phrase, even now when I hear the word "stupid" , it reminds me of him ! Nevertheless, he forced us to work and we all passed (the) our exams.

    1. Fondre en larmes = to burst into tears
Faire fondre….= to make (someone) burst…
    2. However introduit une restriction. Ne devriez-vous pas dire: en fait
3 Ne pas cesser de…= to keep +verbe en ing
    4.Lien Internet

    Congratulations! You did survive (tongue-in-cheek)

    Hello

Je dirais 'he reduced me to tears' est une bonne expression dans le contexte.
    Lien Internet

His comments reduced her to tears (= made her cry).

    Hello,
Your question:In fact, he kept frightening ... Is this better ?
My answer : in my opinion, if you use"he kept frightening everyone", you put emphasis on the fact that he did it very regularly. It was really a habit of his.

By the way, the word "information' is uncountable as well. Therefore no S!

    All the best!
