    Spaces and Exchanges/oral
    Message de papaschreiber posté le 14-05-2014 à 16:02:34 (S | E | F)
    Bonjour
    je dois présenter cette notion à l'oral; qu'en pensez-vous s'il vous plaît?
    Merci pour vos réponses.

I have selected the notion of Spaces and exchanges.
Let me first define the notion,

So the notion can represent differents things :
It can represents cultural interactions like the movement of people across frontiers.
It can represents the discovery and the conquest of new territories.
It can also determines the emigration from poor countries to rich countries.

To illustrate the notion I chose as exemple John Gast’s painting «Spirit of the frontier». It was painted in 1872. In this scene, an angelic woman called Columbia brings light to the civilization of the dark west. She dit it with the American colonists, she installed the telegraph, symbol of progress. We can see a book on her right hand, the emblem of education, while with the left hand she unfolds and stretches wires of the telegraph.
The Indians flee from progress, unable to adjust to the shifting tides of history. The conquest of new lands is due to the primary needs of the people like the food.
The painting represents the discovery of new spaces, there is a flow of people from the East to the West. It shows the conquest of a new world. The notion that the frontier would be developed by sequential waves of people is deeply rooted in American thought.

Then, i developt the immigration to the United States. Its is a complex demographic phenomenon that has been a major source of population growth and cultural change of the history of the U.S. There were a lof ot waves of imigrants. First, the Pilgrims in the early 1600s, arrived in search of religious freedom. After, from the 17th to 19th centuries, African slaves came to America against their will. Nowadays Mexican people are trying to reach the frontier to start a fresh new life but sometimes they die. But it’s a dream they still live in instability when they cross the frontier.

To conclude, people need to comply their requirements so people travel around the world.
People and nations, thanks to this evolution, now keep on borrowing the languages and cultures of other peoples and nations at an ever increasing rate, thus deeply transforming our world.
