    Fewer/ less
    Message de delf2312 posté le 29-10-2015 à 23:58:44 (S | E | F)
    Hello everyone,

I've been taught that fewer is for countable nouns and less is for uncountables so, if I follow the rules, the following sentences should be correct :
"How many times a week do you practise a sport ?" "Fewer than 2 times a week" : It just doesn't sound natural at all !
"How many snacks do you eat everyday ?" "Fewer than 2 snacks a day" : Same, I don't like how it sounds but I may have got bad habits... I want to say less than 2 snacks a day.
Can you help me, please ?
    Cheers.

    I would say:
"How many times a week do you practise a sport ?" "Less than twice a week" : Adverb
"How many snacks do you eat everyday ?" "less than 2 snacks a day" Adverb

I eat less than I used to. adverb.
I eat less bread than I used to: adjective.
I eat fewer hamburgers than I used to: adjective.
