Hi! Sorry, I can't help, never heard of it, I haven't the faintest idea ! (de la soupe aux noix? ça ressemble à "Du coq à l'âne" mais cette impression n'a rien de scientifique... ou alors : =Pendant tout le repas... Bon il faut que j'arrête là ma créativité linguistique!!!
Plus sérieusement :
Where did you get this expression?
Try and ask on English Only Forum... with the context...
If you get the answer, let me know, please...

Cela dépend du contexte. Voilà ce que j'ai trouvé jusqu'à là.
du potage aux noisettes.
du potage aux écrous.

from soup to nuts = de potage à noix
Pourrais-tu nous donner la signification de "de potage à noix", s'il te plaît ?
De plus je te signale que Webmaster a mis à la disposition des membres du club un traducteur :

de potage à noix je crois que c'est de la soupe à noix, je ne suis pas assez forte en français mais c'est ce que je trouve comme traduction.
mais généralement, il vaut mieux écrire le petit texte et non pas une phrase.
merci mariet.

What's the origin of the expression, "from soup to nuts"?
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Straight Dope:
Where did the phrase "soup to nuts," which I believe means from start to finish, come from? --
Rich, Hebron, CT
SDSTAFF Songbird replies:
According to my Dictionary of Idioms:
From Soup to Nuts
Meaning: the whole thing from beginning to end Origin: For centuries, any foods served at the beginning or end of a meal stood for the entire thing: the start and finish and everything in between. This expression was "from eggs to apples" and "from pottage to cheese." In the United States in the middle of the 20th century, the expression developed into "from soup to nuts." At many meals, soup is often the first course and a dessert with nuts is sometimes the last. The expression does not have to refer to only to meals, however. It could be the selection of goods for sale or classes offered.

D'après la brillante trouvaille venue ... de plus haut, la traduction serait donc quelque chose du genre : "Du début à la fin" = "Du début jusqu'à la fin"...
J'aimerais bien avoir cette expression utilisée dans une phrase en anglais, je comprendrais mieux... merci...

Thank you for all your answers. Sorry for my later answer.
The context was :
"I inquired whether I could assume a basic knowledge of important programming concepts like object oriented programming, and I was told that I couldn't ! Again, I was told to write twenty gold solid pages on DCOM from soup to nuts and I was left to get on with it;3
For those, who said from the beginning to the end, I think they are right.

From soup to nuts : to include or cover everything, as in a full, multicourse meal: “The lecture on weather forecasting covered everything from soup to nuts.”
